3 Ways to Celebrate Labor's Day Weekend During a Pandemic

With the pandemic looming, we know that holidays just don’t seem to be the same as they used to be! As we kick off the month of September with Labor Day weekend, we’ve come up with three ways to celebrate and party, while being conscious of social distancing, and making sure that group sizes don’t go beyond 10 people. Let us know in the comments which way you’ll be celebrating Labor Day this year!

1. Head to the Campgrounds

Camping is a great way to get out of the house and be one with nature. With the pandemic, many campgrounds have closed until further notice. However, we found some of the best local campgrounds that are open (with social distancing measures in place) and ready to take reservations.

  1. Coloma Resort - If you want a family getaway, Coloma Resort has tent, RV, and cabin camping available. It features bbq rentals, a swimming pool and a playground.
  2. Auburn Gold Country RV Park - Perfect for some good ‘ol fashioned R&R, Auburn Gold Country RV Park is taking reservations for RV and trailer camping. This site features private RV sites, fishing, hiking, sports courts, and a heated swimming pool.

2. Spend the Day at the Lake

The Sacramento area is the hotspot for lake activities. With easy access to the American River, Lake Natoma and Folsom Lake, spending Labor Day Weekend at any of them is more than a perfect idea. Here are some of the top places in the area to plan a getaway.

Folsom Lake - This lake is so much fun to go to! They are accepting people into the lake, however, you cannot be in a large group of people. They have bbq’s, tables, jet ski rentals, etc. The perfect Labor Day spot for $12!

The American River - This river is known for having many people whitewater raft and kayak in it! Many of the rafting companies are still planning their activities, along with proper precautions!

Lake Tahoe - Known for its crystal blue waters, shopping, and gorgeous views, Lake Tahoe is the perfect getaway destination. Most places are open here, including the casinos, with exception of indoor dining. If you’re willing to take a bit of a road trip, South Lake Tahoe can be a great way to celebrate Labor’s Day Weekend.

3. Take a Weekend Roadtrip

Living in the Sacramento area, there is SO much to do around here! The best part is you can have a mini road trip with tons of activities to do that are just a couple of hours away! You can get out of the house and still enjoy new and exciting places with your family. Here are some of the top cities/landmarks you can visit during your road trip.

  1. Lodi’s Wine County (Lodi, Ca)  - Check prior to make sure wineries are open for tastings, etc.
  2. Apple Hill Orchards (Placerville, Ca)  - Their blueberries are in season right now!
  3. Old Faithful Geyser (Napa, Ca) - This geyser shoots almost 75 ft in the air!
  4. Safari West (Santa Rosa, Ca) - This safari trip allows you to be up close with all sorts of jungle animals while cruising in a buggy!
  5. Guernerville on the Russian River (Guernerville, CA) - About 2 hours from Sacramento, this cute little town offers many opportunities for floating down the river, camping , etc!
